I’ve made a conscious decision on the homestead to move away from imported bamboo and plastic-coated garden supports. Instead, I’m heading into our local West Sussex woodlands to forage for natural hazel and willow stakes.
These resources are not only free and sustainable, but they provide a much sturdier support for my urban crops while blending beautifully into the garden. If you want to see the specific foraging tools and garden gear I use to manage this wild-connected lifestyle, head over to my Urban Living Toolkit Page.
Next time you’re out for a walk, look down—the ‘Black Gold’ leaf mulch I mentioned in the video is sitting right there, ready to feed your soil for free!
